Volunteer Appreciation Month: Neighbors Helping Neighbors

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and we’re proud to celebrate the incredible community behind Eagle Valley Community Foundation. More than 1,800 volunteers contribute over 12,000 hours each year—equivalent to six full-time staff—powering our work across every program and every corner of the valley.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of what we do. At The Community Market (TCM), they stock shelves, greet families, and help create a welcoming, dignified experience for the more than 4,500 people we serve each week. In the TCM garden, volunteers plant, harvest, and care for fresh produce that goes directly back into the community. Through REcover, they help ensure surplus food reaches those who need it most.

Across MIRA, volunteers show up at outreach events, support health screenings, assist with resource navigation, and help create spaces where community members feel seen, supported, and connected. These moments—often quiet and behind the scenes—are what build trust and expand access to critical services.

We’re especially grateful for the many school groups and student volunteers who bring energy, curiosity, and compassion into this work. From local high schools to youth organizations, these young leaders are not only giving their time—they’re shaping a future rooted in service and community care.

“Our volunteers are what make this work possible,” shared Cooper Moore, TCM Volunteer Supervisor. “They show up with heart, with consistency, and with a genuine desire to support their neighbors. It’s inspiring to see the impact they make every single day.”

Through Elevar, we also celebrate volunteers who share their expertise—mentors, instructors, and business leaders who lead workshops and invest in local entrepreneurs. By offering their time and knowledge, they are helping build economic opportunity and strengthen small businesses across our community.

“Volunteering with EVCF reminds me how connected we all are,” shared one volunteer. “You come in thinking you’re giving your time, but you leave feeling like you’ve gained so much more.”

That spirit—of connection, dignity, and shared purpose—is at the core of everything we do. Our volunteers don’t just support our programs; they help create a community where everyone belongs and has the opportunity to thrive.

We’re deeply grateful for each and every person who shows up, gives back, and helps make this work possible.
