Nourishing Seniors, Strengthening Community

At The Community Market, we believe everyone deserves access to fresh, nutritious food – no matter their age or income. Yet across the country, nearly 1 in 14 seniors faces food insecurity, a challenge that is only growing as costs rise and access becomes more limited. In Eagle County, many seniors face additional barriers like transportation, mobility, and isolation—making consistent, healthy meals even harder to access.

That’s where the leadership and compassion of 4 Eagle Senior Care steps in.

Since the early days of the pandemic, Barbara and a dedicated team of volunteers have built and sustained the Senior Care Meal Program – a grassroots effort rooted in dignity, consistency, and connection.

“Our program is called Senior Care,” Barb shares. “The purpose is to provide healthy meals to food insecure individuals in our senior population.”

Each week, Barb and her volunteer team prepare up to 50 nourishing lunches, carefully made and thoughtfully packed. Volunteers then deliver meals from Minturn to Gypsum, ensuring seniors receive not only food, but also a moment of human connection—whether that’s a quick check-in, a conversation, or simply a familiar face at the door.

When possible, volunteers even gather to share a meal together, strengthening the relationships that make this program so special.

The Community Market is proud to support this effort by providing fresh produce and protein each week, helping ensure seniors also receive nutritious groceries alongside their meals. This collaboration allows 4 Eagle Senior Care to focus on what they do best: showing up for seniors with care, consistency, and heart.

This food that The Community Market purchases is made possible through the generous support of the Daniels Fund, whose investment allows us to source high-quality, nutritious food for the program.

What started as a response to a moment of crisis has become something much more enduring—a program led by volunteers, powered by partnership, and grounded in the belief that no senior should feel forgotten.

Because at its core, this isn’t just about meals.
It’s about community showing up for one another—week after week.
