Investing Local: How Businesses Are Strengthening Our Community

Partnerships are at the heart of Eagle Valley Community Foundation’s work, fueling our ability to meet community needs and create lasting change. Throughout August and September, we’re proud to partner once again with City Market Vail through its Fight Hunger Bag Program – an easy way for shoppers to support local families while making a sustainable choice.

As part of City Market’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative, every $2.50 reusable Fight Hunger Bag purchased at City Market Vail donates $1 directly to Eagle Valley Community Foundation’s The Community Market. These contributions help expand access to nutritious food for families experiencing food insecurity while encouraging the use of reusable bags that reduce waste.

But City Market Vail’s commitment to our community extends far beyond this campaign. As a valued partner in our REcover Food Rescue program, City Market Vail regularly donates to our REcover  program, donating more than 15,950 pounds of high-quality food between April and June. Instead of ending up in the landfill, this perfectly good food is redirected to The Community Market, where it provides fresh, nutritious groceries for local families.

Together, these efforts strengthen food security, reduce food waste, and demonstrate what’s possible when businesses and nonprofits work hand in hand to support their community. Every reusable bag purchased and every pound of food rescued helps ensure that more of our neighbors have access to healthy food while protecting our environment.
