How to Host a Food Drive to Support The Community Market

At The Community Market, we believe no one in Eagle County should have to wonder where their next meal will come from. As more of our neighbors face food insecurity, your support makes an incredible difference. Hosting a food drive is a simple yet powerful way to help fill our shelves — and hearts — with healthy food for families in need.

Why Food Drives Matter

Every week, more than 4,000 people turn to The Community Market for access to fresh produce, proteins, and pantry staples. While we rescue thousands of pounds of food from local partners, the demand continues to grow. Community-led food drives help ensure we can keep providing nutritious options for everyone who walks through our doors.

How to Get Started

Anyone can host a food drive — whether you’re part of a business, school, faith group, or neighborhood. We’ll provide the guidance and materials you need to make your drive successful, including flyers, collection bins, and a list of our most needed items.

What to Collect

We focus on healthy, shelf-stable foods that support balanced meals for families. Some of our most requested items include:

  • Dry beans, rice, and pasta
  • Pasta sauce and canned tomatoes
  • Peanut butter and canned proteins (tuna, chicken, salmon)
  • Assorted soups
  • Canned fruits and vegetables
  • Cooking oils and whole grain flour
  • Breakfast and snack bars
