Celebrating Youth, Building Futures: Why MIRA Hosts Día de los Niños and the Youth Resource Fair

We believe every child deserves access to the care they need to grow up healthy, supported, and celebrated. That’s why our MIRA Program is proud to host the upcoming Día de los Niños Celebration and Youth Resource Fair—a vibrant event rooted in culture, connection, and opportunity.

Honoring Tradition and Identity

Día de los Niños (Children’s Day) is a beloved holiday in many Latin American cultures that recognizes the importance of children in our lives and communities. For many families we serve, this day is filled with laughter, joy, and pride. At MIRA, we celebrate this tradition because we know how powerful it is when children see their identities affirmed and honored in a public way.

By hosting this celebration in a trusted, welcoming space, MIRA not only uplifts our youth—it also strengthens the fabric of our multicultural community.

Connecting Families to Critical Resources

But the celebration is just the beginning.

This year, we’re expanding the event with a Youth Resource Fair designed to connect families with vital support services. From mental health programs to summer enrichment opportunities, local service providers will be on hand to ensure that families have access to the tools they need to thrive.

At its core, this fair reflects MIRA’s mission: to bring resources directly into neighborhoods and meet families where they are. Too often, gaps in access—transportation, language, trust—stand between families and the services that could change their lives. Events like this break down those barriers.

Why This Matters Now

Our valley’s youth face complex challenges—from navigating generational poverty to accessing equitable education and healthcare. But we also see immense potential in every young person we meet.

By investing in events like Día de los Niños and the Youth Resource Fair, we’re doing more than throwing a party—we’re planting seeds for long-term impact. We’re showing families that they are not alone. We’re reminding kids that they matter. And we’re helping create pathways to health, education, and opportunity.
