Building for the Future: Stronger Together for Eagle County
By Melina Valsecia, Executive Director, Eagle Valley Community Foundation
I recently read an article by Paul Lhevine, President & CEO of the Colorado Nonprofit Association, titled “The Future of Colorado’s Nonprofit Sector: Seven Trends Reshaping the Field.” It made me reflect on the exciting opportunities ahead for our nonprofit sector and how Eagle Valley Community Foundation (EVCF), alongside our community partners, is helping shape that future.
One message particularly resonated with me: The future of nonprofits will depend not only on the impact they make today, but on their ability to build strong, sustainable organizations that can serve communities for generations.
At EVCF, this is something we think about every day.
Through The Community Market, MIRA, and ELEVAR, we have learned that lasting community impact comes from listening to our neighbors, building meaningful partnerships, embracing new ideas, and creating opportunities together.
From expanding access to nutritious food for children to connecting families with healthcare and supporting leadership and entrepreneurship, our work continues to evolve through collaboration and a shared commitment to a thriving Eagle County.
Our vision is not simply to grow EVCF, but to strengthen the connections, partnerships, and opportunities that help our entire community thrive.
Celebrating the Strength of Eagle County’s Nonprofit Community
One of the things I appreciate most about Eagle County is the extraordinary nonprofit community we have built together. Across our valley, organizations of all sizes bring incredible talent, creativity, expertise, and passion to their work.
Every organization contributes something valuable, and every partnership creates an opportunity to accomplish more.
I believe our greatest opportunity lies in recognizing the abundance of strengths, knowledge, generosity, and relationships that already exist within our community.
When we share ideas, connect resources, celebrate each other’s successes, and build on one another’s strengths, we expand what is possible for the people we serve.
At EVCF, our doors are always open to listening, learning, and exploring how we can work better together. We welcome conversations, new ideas, shared initiatives, and partnerships that build on the incredible work already happening throughout Eagle County.
Our Future Is Stronger Together
As we look ahead, I see tremendous potential for Eagle County’s nonprofit sector. We have passionate leaders, engaged community members, generous supporters, and organizations doing meaningful work every day.
Imagine what we can accomplish when we intentionally connect those strengths and create even more opportunities to collaborate.
The next chapter of Eagle County’s nonprofit sector can be defined by the opportunities we create, the partnerships we strengthen, and the possibilities we open for future generations.
My hope is that we continue building a nonprofit community where collaboration is part of our culture, every organization has opportunities to contribute and thrive, and our collective impact reaches further than any of us could achieve alone.
Because when our nonprofits thrive, our entire community thrives. We are stronger together, and our greatest opportunities are still ahead of us.
