Partner Feature: Mountain Dreamers Brings Trusted Legal Support Directly to Our Community

For many immigrant families, getting reliable answers to immigration questions can be complicated, costly, and intimidating. Transportation, work schedules, language access, and uncertainty about where to turn can all stand between a person and the information they need.

Through a partnership between MIRA and Mountain Dreamers, community members can now receive trusted immigration legal consultations aboard the MIRA bus—within the neighborhoods where they live and in a familiar space designed to welcome every person with dignity.

Mountain Dreamers is a Department of Justice-recognized and accredited nonprofit serving immigrants and their families throughout Colorado’s Central Mountain Region. Its team helps community members understand their rights and explore matters involving DACA renewals, citizenship, green cards, special visas, work permits, and other immigration concerns. In 2025 alone, Mountain Dreamers served 1,965 people across Eagle, Summit, Park, Lake, and surrounding counties.

This partnership is especially important in Eagle County, where approximately 32% of residents identify as Hispanic or Latino and one in four people age five or older speaks a language other than English at home. These residents are essential members of our local workforce, schools, neighborhoods, and community life. Ensuring they can access accurate, culturally responsive information strengthens the wellbeing of the entire valley.

By offering consultations aboard the MIRA bus, Mountain Dreamers brings its expertise into a trusted community setting. Residents can ask questions, better understand changes in immigration law, and learn how those changes may affect themselves and their families. Just as importantly, they can begin identifying their options without having to navigate the process alone.

The partnership builds on MIRA’s role as a mobile bridge to health and human services. In 2024, MIRA welcomed 4,949 visits to the bus and provided 14,847 referrals and connections to resources. Each interaction reflects a person taking a step toward greater stability—whether that means enrolling in health coverage, finding behavioral-health support, accessing nutritious food, or receiving qualified immigration guidance.

This is what an empowered community looks like: people have access to clear information, trusted partners, and the support needed to make informed decisions for themselves and their families. MIRA and Mountain Dreamers do not define what a person’s next step should be. Instead, they create a respectful space where every individual can ask questions, understand their choices, and move forward with greater confidence.
