National Volunteer Appreciation Week: Honoring the Heart of EVCF

At Eagle Valley Community Foundation (EVCF), volunteers are not just helpers—they are change-makers, bridge-builders, and the very heartbeat of our mission. During National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we honor the incredible individuals who show up, day after day, to ensure that every person in our community has access to food, healthcare, education, and opportunity.

From unloading food trucks at The Community Market, to support events at MIRA, to cheering on local entrepreneurs at Elevar pitch nights—our volunteers are everywhere, making impact visible.

And the stories speak for themselves:

Luis, a local high school student, began volunteering to fulfill a service requirement. What started as a few hours sorting produce turned into a mentorship connection with a local nonprofit leader. “I never thought volunteering would help me figure out what I want to do after graduation. Now I’m thinking about studying public health,” he says.

Abuela Rosa, who visits The Community Market for groceries, now stays after picking up food to help bag items for others. “They helped me when I needed it,” she says. “Now I get to give back. Even with my sore knees, I can still pack rice with love.”

These are just a few of the hundreds of stories we could share. Every person who walks through our doors with a spirit of service strengthens the bonds of our community and helps carry out EVCF’s vision of equity, dignity, and connection.
