Laura Malehorn

Laura Malehorn brings a deep passion for healthcare access and community-centered support to her role on the Eagle Valley Community Foundation Board of Directors, where she champions the MIRA program and its mission to reduce barriers and expand access for underserved populations.

Laura spent her professional career at General Electric, where she completed the company’s Financial Management Program and went on to serve on the Corporate Audit Staff. These experiences shaped her strong foundation in operations, process management, business development, and finance—skills she now applies to her community work. Laura proudly attended Duke University, where she studied public policy and economics.

Her connection to EVCF began through The Community Market, whose efficiency and impact reminded her of the Chicago Food Depository, where she and her family were previously involved. She quickly became an engaged volunteer and helped support the evolution of the MIRA Bus, including playing a key role in coordinating on-site COVID-19 vaccine clinics at Eagle County schools, helping provide access to vaccinations for 416 students. In recognition of her leadership and impact, she was named the 2020 MIRA Volunteer of the Year.

Laura has a strong history of civic engagement, including serving on the Glencoe School Board in Illinois and volunteering as a tutor teaching Hebrew reading at her synagogue. She brings a thoughtful, service-driven perspective to her board work, grounded in a belief in dignity, access, and community-driven solutions.

Laura and her husband, Jeff, have two adult daughters, both University of Michigan graduates, who live in Chicago. In her free time, Laura enjoys traveling and serves as a mountain host, reflecting her love for the outdoors and connection to the local community.
