Growing the Next Generation of Community Health Leaders

This summer, MIRA is growing its impact while helping prepare the next generation of community health leaders.

Through support from an Energy Outreach Colorado grant, MIRA is welcoming two Colorado Mountain College interns who will help strengthen outreach, connect families to resources, and support community members as they navigate essential services. Their work will help ensure more families know what support is available and feel welcomed when accessing it.

Deysi will support MIRA operations this summer as a part-time MIRA Associate. She brings valuable experience in banking and clinical scheduling, along with strong organizational skills and a deep understanding of customer service. Her background will help support the behind-the-scenes systems that make MIRA’s mobile services welcoming, efficient, and accessible for families.

Stephen joins the team with a business background and a passion for learning more about community-based work. His experience will support outreach efforts, program coordination, and relationship-building as MIRA continues connecting local families to health, financial, and resource navigation services.

Together, Deysi and Stephen will help MIRA expand outreach related to Energy Outreach Colorado resources, ensuring more community members know where to turn for support with energy assistance and other essential needs. Their work reflects MIRA’s commitment to meeting people where they are, reducing barriers, and building trust through bilingual, culturally responsive service.

Internship opportunities like this are also an investment in the future. By working alongside MIRA’s Community Health Navigator team, interns gain hands-on experience in public health, outreach, resource navigation, and community engagement. They see firsthand how trusted relationships can improve access to care and support long-term community well-being.

MIRA is proud to partner with Colorado Mountain College and Energy Outreach Colorado to create meaningful opportunities for emerging leaders while expanding support for families across Eagle County. As Deysi and Stephen step into this summer of service and learning, they are helping strengthen both today’s outreach efforts and tomorrow’s community health workforce.
