Celebrating Childhood, Community, and Connection at Día de los Niños

On April 30, the clouds parted just in time for Eagle Valley Community Foundation to celebrate our fifth annual Día de los Niños (Children’s Day) and Youth Resource Fair at Gypsum Town Park. More than a celebration, the event served as a vital connection point for families across Eagle County — bringing together culture, community, and essential resources in one welcoming, family-centered space.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners, this year’s event welcomed more than 568 community members and impacted 767 households across the region. In a county where many families continue to face rising housing costs, food insecurity, childcare challenges, transportation barriers, and difficulty accessing healthcare and support services, events like Día de los Niños help ensure families are not navigating those challenges alone.

Throughout the day, families connected with 24 local organizations providing direct support for children and caregivers. Resources included Early Head Start and the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP) for early childhood support; Walking Mountains Science Center for sustainability and energy-efficiency education; Eagle County Public Health & Environment and Eagle County Paramedic Services for immunizations and health screenings; Lions Clubs International for vision screenings; The Community Market for food and nutrition support; and MIRA for bilingual health and wellness resources and navigation.

For many families, especially working families and Spanish-speaking households, accessing these services can be complicated by language, transportation, cost, and scheduling barriers. Bringing organizations together in one trusted, culturally responsive environment helps remove those barriers and creates a more accessible pathway to support.

But Día de los Niños is about more than services alone. It is also about creating moments of joy, dignity, and belonging. Families shared meals, children participated in games and activities, and neighbors gathered to celebrate culture and community together. These experiences strengthen social connection and help children feel seen, valued, and supported — something every child deserves.

For donors and supporters, this event is a powerful example of what community investment makes possible. Your support helps create spaces where families can access critical resources, build relationships, and connect to opportunities that strengthen long-term health and stability. It allows Eagle Valley Community Foundation and our partners to meet families where they are — not only responding to immediate needs, but helping build a stronger, healthier, and more connected Eagle County for the future.

Día de los Niños is a reminder that when a community invests in its children, it invests in everyone’s future.
