Vail Valley Citizens of the Year: Mike and Sue Rushmore
We are thrilled to share that Eagle Valley Community Foundation (EVCF) founders, Mike and Sue Rushmore, were recently honored by the Vail Valley Foundation (VVF) as VVF’s 2025 Citizens of the Year. The Citizens of the Year award is one of the highest honors in the Vail Valley Community, recognizing deserving citizens who have provided support, vision, and leadership to the betterment of the valley.
Driven by a deep commitment to equity and well-being, Mike and Sue founded the Eagle Valley Community Foundation (EVCF) in 2015 to address the needs of community members and create more equitable opportunities for those who live, work, and play in this beautiful mountain community. Their vision wasn’t just about philanthropy—it was about amplifying the voices of those most impacted by long-standing disparities. By working hand-in-hand with others who shared their passion, including Seth Ehrlich, Jason Denhart, and Jeremy Rietmann, Mike and Sue helped establish a foundation that has become a beacon of change and resilience in the Vail Valley.
Thanks to the unwavering support of the Rushmores, the Eagle Valley Community Foundation has grown exponentially over the last decade, responding to the most emergent needs that arise within the community with dignity and equity.
