Gobble for Good – Community Coming Together for a Thanksgiving of Hope

At Eagle Valley Community Foundation, we believe that everyone deserves to gather around a table filled with warmth, nourishment, and connection—especially during the holidays. This November, our community came together in a powerful way to make that belief a reality.

In partnership with the Salvation Army, we held our Third Annual Gobble for Good campaign, a heartfelt initiative designed to ensure that no family in Eagle County went without a Thanksgiving meal. Thanks to the generosity and compassion of our neighbors, this year’s effort was our largest yet.

With the support of more than 100 volunteers, countless donors, and dedicated partner organizations, we successfully distributed 600 complete Thanksgiving bags to households across the valley. These baskets were filled with staples and seasonal favorites to help families prepare a nourishing, dignified holiday meal at home.

Distribution happened in several ways to reach as many neighbors as possible—some baskets were delivered directly to families who face transportation or mobility barriers, while others were shared through trusted local food pantries and community partners. This flexible approach allowed us to meet people where they are and ensure access for all.

Behind every number is a story. Parents relieved to know their children would enjoy a special holiday meal. Seniors expressing gratitude for a sense of tradition they feared they would miss. Families who have supported others in the past now receiving support themselves during a difficult moment.

This campaign would not have been possible without the generosity of our partners. Black Hills Energy and Vail Health provided essential support to make these Thanksgiving baskets a reality, helping bring comfort, stability, and joy to hundreds of families. Their commitment to community wellbeing continues to make a meaningful difference.

To every volunteer who packed bags, delivered meals, donated food, or lent a helping hand—thank you. Your care and dedication reflect the very best of our valley.

As we look ahead to the winter season, we remain inspired by the compassion that defines our community. Together, we are building a place where every neighbor feels supported, valued, and nourished—not just on Thanksgiving, but every day.

Thank you for being part of this work.
