Bringing Clearer Vision to Our Neighbors: Inside the MIRA Vision Program

For many families in Eagle County, something as simple as a pair of glasses can be the difference between thriving and struggling. Clear vision affects a child’s ability to learn, an adult’s safety at work, and a senior’s independence in daily life. Yet for uninsured and underinsured neighbors, routine vision care often remains out of reach.

Launched in September 2025, the MIRA Vision Program brings vision screenings and resources directly into the community through monthly clinics and special events, removing common barriers like cost, transportation, and language.

Since launching, the program has already made a meaningful impact:

  • 12 vision screenings completed for children ages 0–6, with one child referred for additional care
  • 21 vision care vouchers issued for eye exams and prescription glasses
  • $3,800 in direct assistance provided to families and individuals

These vouchers help ensure that a screening doesn’t stop at identification—neighbors can take the next step toward clearer vision and improved quality of life.

This work is made possible through a valued partnership with the Eagle Lions Club, whose long-standing commitment to vision care helps expand access to essential services for our community. Together, we are ensuring that neighbors who need follow-up care aren’t left navigating the system alone.

The impact of the MIRA Vision Program is immediate and deeply personal. Parents share relief knowing their children can see clearly as they begin school. Adults describe feeling safer and more confident at work. Seniors express gratitude for support that helps them stay independent and connected.

At its core, the Vision Program reflects what MIRA does best: meeting neighbors where they are, offering trusted care, and supporting health with dignity and compassion. As demand continues to grow, this program stands as a powerful reminder that clear vision opens doors—to learning, opportunity, and overall wellbeing.
