Our Community Foundation is a traditional community foundation now serving Eagle County. The Foundation learned of an unexpected funding shortfall at the local Salvation Army food pantry. The local foundation collaborated with the Western Colorado Community Foundation to secure the $25,000 to balance the 2015 budget and ensure the food pantry shelves remain stocked.
The source of the funding is the Bruce Dixson Fund for Basic Needs located in Grand Junction, CO. The Vail Valley Salvation Army provides many services to locals, including the food pantry, which is handles requests for food about 500 times each month.
